Division Stokers

Alexander MacDonald, stoker, V/19077, RCNVR, age 21, was from Windsor, Ontario. His father Angus MacDonald, who was a bagpiper, was originally from Inverness County, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

It had been Alex's first trip on a naval vessel. He had joined the navy just a few months before, in July. Alex had made it to a life boat but his injuries were so severe that he died before any rescue was possible. He rests in the Atlantic.
